Upper West Side
Upper West Side is a neighborhood in Upper Manhattan. It is an upscale area like Upper East Side, being the site of famous universities and cultural centers, such as Columbia University and the Lincoln Center. Lisette's school is located in this wealthy district, as well as the Von Brandt twins' apartment.
Also known as "Dakota Apartments", the Dakota is a co-op apartment building located in Upper West Side. Built in 1884, it is considered one of Manhattan's most prestigious residential buildings. It has been home to stars such as Lauren Bacall and John Lennon. The Von Brandt twins lived together for a time here, until Alexander moved out to start a family.
The Juilliard School of Music, or simply 'Juilliard', is one of New York's most prestigious music conservatories. Established in 1905 as the Institute of Musical Art, it grew to encompass dance as well as drama in its curriculum. Lisette attended the school as a music major, concentrating on string chamber and orchestral performance. She graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor's degree in Music, and was recruited by the CIA for her musical talents shortly after.
